The Alumni Reading Room in the new Harrington Learning Center at Quinsigamond Community College makes for a bright and inviting place to study or play a game of chess. I’ll be doing some work for the school’s alumni magzine next week.

Mechanics Hall

My brother-in-law came to town yesterday with tickets to a concert at Mechanics Hall. His good friend, Makiko Hirata, played piano with the Romanian Orchestra. A great concert in one of Worcester’s true treasures, Mechanics Hall is known as the nation’s finest antebellum concert hall.

Though I’m never thrilled by the nearly two feet of snow we received yesterday, Ski Ward in Shrewsbury certainly was. They hosted a giant slalom competition for four area high schools. It wasn’t quite the Olympics, but still lots of fun. The coaches may contact me about getting a free CD of higher resolution photos.

Water shoots down a spillway alongside the Massachusetts Central Rail Trail in West Boylston. The trail is a nice place for an easy hike or bike ride.
