Cristoforo Colombo Park

Saturday, January 21st, 2006

The Cristoforo Colombo Park, located on Shrewsbury Street, has a beautiful bandshell built in 1996 for $650,000. According to a July 2004 article in Worcester Magazine, the bandshell has largely gone unused. Could someone please tell me that the 2005 season was a good one for the bandshell, and that there will be even better [...]

Civil War Monument

Friday, January 20th, 2006

I have always appreciated the way monuments and other publicly displayed works of art tell the history of a place. The attentive eye will find many such pieces scattered throughout the city. The most prominent monument of all, perhaps, is the Soldiers’ Memorial, commemorating the Civil War, on the Worcester Common. From the City of [...]

Interstate 190

Thursday, January 19th, 2006

Interstate 190, just north of junction I-290 W. If you head north just a few miles outside of the city, you’ll find a road sign warning you about moose. It’s a wilderness out there.

Worcester Public Library

Wednesday, January 18th, 2006

The recently renovated Worcester Public Library has become a beautiful place, and adds an element of respectability to the common area. Despite the inevitable digitization of books (like the project that Google is trying to do) and the instant information available on the web, I don’t think established libraries will be going away anytime soon. [...]

Lake Quinsigamond

Tuesday, January 17th, 2006

It may not be Lake Michigan, but every time I cross the RT 9 bridge over Lake Quinsigamond, I’ll always take a look to enjoy the view. This photo was taken from the southern portion of Lake Quinsigamond State Park.

Jack Frost Sunset

Monday, January 16th, 2006

With temperatures in the single digits yesterday, Jack Frost went crazy on our windows, sucking the heat from our house along with my will to go out of doors to take a picture for the day. So instead, I share with you an abstract photo of the sunset through my window.

Laurana Eats The Beans

Sunday, January 15th, 2006

My oldest daughter, Laurana, enjoys her dinner at our church’s chuck wagon themed dinner. Why a chuck wagon themed dinner? I really have no idea.

Elm Park Rendevous

Saturday, January 14th, 2006

Yesterday was an unseasonably warm day, so I figured that I’d find lots of people out at the park. I went down to Elm Park, one of the oldest public parks in the nation (THE oldest depending on how you define “public park”), and found the whole park virtually empty except for this young couple [...]

Ballerina

Friday, January 13th, 2006

I first photographed Krysten during the portrait session I did for the Greendale Dance Academy last June. She has also posed for another ballet shoot at Union Station, one of which is my favorite photo taken during 2005. More photos from last night’s session are also available.

Black Diamond Coffee

Thursday, January 12th, 2006

I only wish that coffee tasted half as good as it smells. Unfortunately, it doesn’t, even after I tried to drink it everyday for a month. My wife, Amy, thinks that Black Diamond’s coffee is delicious. Located on RT 140 just south of RT 9 in Shrewsbury, they also makes a mean hot chocolate. The [...]
